Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 268 -- MUSEUM SUBDISTRICT PROPERTY TAX

SPONSOR:  Gibbons (Byrd)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Local
Government by a vote of 13 to 1.

This bill authorizes, upon voter approval, an increase in the
property tax rate for certain Missouri history museum
subdistricts.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2006, FY 2007, and
FY 2008.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that this tax levy is comparable to
other subdistricts within the Metropolitan Zoological Park and
Museum District.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Gibbons.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
