Biography:
Representative Noel Torpey, a Republican, represents part of Eastern Jackson County (District 29) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to his first two-year term in November 2010.

In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Torpey co-owns a small business in Independence with his brother Edward. He is also a member of the Independence Chamber of Commerce and volunteers on the Advisory Committee for the Independence School District.

Rep. Torpey and his wife Julie were church youth leaders for seven years. He was a member of the Independence Kiwanis Club and often volunteered as a youth friend for the Independence School District. He served on the Queen City Baseball Board for five years, and currently coaches both of his sons, Hayden and Dawson.

Rep. Torpey received a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, with a concentration in Political Science, from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. His previous legislative experience includes serving as a Legislative Assistant for Senator Grassley in Washington D.C.

Born December 12, 1971, Rep. Torpey resides in Independence with his wife Julie, who is a teacher, and their two children, Hayden and Dawson.
