HB 1725 -- TICKET SCALPING SPONSOR: Hosmer (Dolan) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Criminal Law by a vote of 11 to 4. This bill deletes provisions that penalize the resale of sporting event tickets in excess of their purchase price. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that because ticket scalping is a victimless crime, it should be repealed. Supporters also say repealing the provisions would take away the control of sale that out-of-state ticket brokers have and give it to the individual ticket owners. Testifying for the bill was Representative Dolan. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee. Sarah Madden, Legislative Analyst
