REP. TERRY YOUNG

92nd General Assembly

 

Rep. Terry Young, a Democrat, represents part of Jackson County, which includes portions of Independence, Raytown and eastern Kansas City (District 49), in the Missouri House of Representatives.� Elected to the House in November 2002, Rep. Young serves in House Leadership as Democratic Caucus secretary.

 

In addition to her legislative duties, Rep. Young works for Western Missouri and Kansas and Eastern Missouri

Laborers' Employers Cooperation and Education Trust. �She previously worked as director of government relations of American Medical Response and was a reporter for the Independence Examiner.

 

A member of the Independence and Raytown Chambers of Commerce, Rep. Young served as Jackson County Legislator from 1999 to 2002, for which she shared the Health and Justice Committee.� She also served on the Little Blue Sewer District and the Bi-State Commission.� She is on the board of directors for Truman Hospital.

 

A 1976 graduate of Raytown South High School, Rep. Young received an associate of arts degree from Longview Community College and a bachelor of science degree in journalism from the University of Kansas.

 

Born November 11, 1957, in Clinton, Mo., Rep. Young lives in Raytown.� She has two children:� Heather and Lindsay.
