HB 1463 -- Academic Standards

Beginning in 1997 and every 2 years thereafter, this bill
requires the General Assembly to approve or disapprove, by
concurrent resolution, the academic performance standards
adopted by the State Board of Education.  The General Assembly
will vote within 30 days of being informed by the Commissioner
of Education of the proposed standards.  If the standards are
rejected, then the board will submit new standards for the
General Assembly to consider within 60 days.
