HB 629 -- Marriage Licenses
Sponsor: Gaskill
The bill allows applicants for a marriage license to obtain the
license within 3 days only if the applicants have completed a
program in premarital counseling. If the applicants do not
complete the program, they must wait 30 days for the license to
be issued. Currently, a marriage license is issued within 3
days and no counseling program is required. The bill also
provides for voiding a license if the marriage is not solemnized
within 45 days of the date when the license was issued. The
current provision voids the license within 30 days.
