HCS HB 124 -- JOINT COMMITTEE ON TERRORISM, BIOTERRORISM, AND HOMELAND SECURITY SPONSOR: Dusenberg (Komo) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Homeland Security by a vote of 12 to 0. This substitute expands the duties of the Joint Committee on Terrorism, Bioterrorism, and Homeland Security to include making a continuing study and analysis of the feasibility of compiling information relevant to immigration enforcement issues. The expiration date for the joint committee is extended from December 31, 2009, to December 31, 2011. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2010, FY 2011, and FY 2012. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that immigration and border security is part of homeland security. Adding the analysis of immigration enforcement issues to the committee's duties will help direct future action towards these areas. Testifying for the bill was Representative Komo.
