HCS HB 273 -- DOCUMENTATION FOR DISBURSEMENTS ON CERTAIN ESTATES

SPONSOR: Cunningham (Cox)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Financial Institutions by a vote of 11 to 0.

Currently, any expenditure of more than $75 for which a personal
representative claims credit in a settlement on a decedent's
estate must be supported by a voucher executed by the person to
whom the disbursement was made. This substitute also allows a
cancelled check, an electronic copy of a check, or a bank
statement to be used as documentation.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2010, FY 2011, and
FY 2012.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill provides another means
of verification on claims paid and will streamline the process.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Cox; and Paul Beard.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
