Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HCS#2 HB 372 -- STANDARDIZED INSURANCE APPLICATIONS

SPONSOR:  Schaaf

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Healthcare Transformation by a vote of 9 to 0.

This substitute requires the Director of the Department of
Insurance, Financial Institutions and Professional Registration
to establish by rule uniform insurance application forms to be
used by all insurers for group health insurance policies.

The provisions of the substitute will not apply to group health
plans for small employers.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2010, FY 2011, and
FY 2012.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill will save insurance
companies money, and involving the regulating agency will make
sure that the standardized forms will be created and implemented.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Schaaf; Missouri
State Medical Association; Coventry Health Care; and Missouri
Insurance Coalition.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
