HB 537 -- CONVEYANCE IN ST. LOUIS CITY SPONSOR: Dixon COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Corrections and Public Institutions by a vote of 11 to 0. This bill authorizes the Governor to convey state property located in St. Louis City, which is currently being used by the Department of Corrections as a minimum security correctional facility, to the Highways and Transportation Commission for the new Mississippi River Bridge project. FISCAL NOTE: Estimated Income on General Revenue Fund of $158,500 in FY 2010, $0 in FY 2011, and $0 in FY 2012. Estimated Cost on Other State Funds of $158,500 in FY 2010, $0 in FY 2011, and $0 in FY 2012. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the federal government has approved a new bridge over the Mississippi River in St. Louis but the Department of Transportation needs some property belonging to the Department of Corrections for an exit ramp. OTHERS: Others testifying on the bill say the property is a parking lot at a halfway house, and its operation will not be affected by the bill.
