HB 546 -- DRUG COURT COMMISSIONERS SPONSOR: Smith (150) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Judiciary by a vote of 14 to 0. This bill allows a drug court commissioner to also serve as a family court commissioner without any additional compensation if the commissioner is available, needed, qualified, and appointed by a majority of the circuit and associate circuit court judges in the circuit. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2010, FY 2011, and FY 2012. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that drug court commissioners have the knowledge, ability, and availability to serve as family court commissioners in addition to their normal duties but are unable to serve due to the statutes. Testifying for the bill was Representative Smith (150). OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
