HCS HB 566 -- CLASS II GAMING DEVICES SPONSOR: Day (Salva) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Veterans by a vote of 12 to 0. This substitute allows veterans and fraternal organizations licensed to conduct bingo games to have one electronic class II gaming device for each 40 members. The gaming device can be conducted or managed by an independent contractor, and there is no limit on the number of days it can be in use. Vending machines and mechanized coin-operated machines will be allowed to sell pull-tab cards or to pay prize money, merchandise gifts, or other prizes where bingo games are conducted. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on General Revenue Fund in FY 2010, FY 2011, and FY 2012. Estimated Cost on Other State Funds of Up to $1,797,501 in FY 2010, Up to $1,632,560 in FY 2011, and Up to $1,681,764 in FY 2012. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that by allowing these nonprofit organizations to have class II gaming devices, more money will be generated which goes back into the local community.
