Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HCS HB 657 -- BOAT DOCKS

SPONSOR: Pollock (Cooper)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on State
Parks and Waterways by a vote of 12 to 0.

Beginning January 1, 2010, this substitute requires a person
owning a boat dock on a lake with at least 950 miles of shoreline
or on a lake constructed or maintained by the United States Army
Corps of Engineers with certain specified exceptions to display
the appropriate 911 street address nearest to the dock by land.
The substitute specifies how and where the address must be
displayed. A person who fails to display the identifying
information will be guilty of an infraction.

The infraction of abandoning a boat dock is changed to include
all waters of the state, not just lakes with at least 950 miles
of aggregate shoreline, and the fine for the infraction is
removed.

FY 2010, $0 or Unknown in FY 2011, and $0 or Unknown in FY 2012.
No impact on Other State Funds in FY 2010, FY 2011, and FY 2012.

emergency staff response to an emergency, and the provisions
regarding containers will help beautify the streams in the state.

OTHERS: Others testifying on the bill say the provisions
regarding posting 911 addresses will help officers and the
