HB 678 -- SILVER STAR FAMILIES OF AMERICA DAY

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Veterans by a vote of 12 to 0.

This bill designates May 1 of each year as "Silver Star Families
of America Day" to honor the wounded members of the United States
armed forces.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2010, FY 2011, and
FY 2012.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that Silver Star Families help our
wounded veterans and the bill will make everyone aware of the
sacrifices these veterans have made in service to our country.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Day; and Dewey Riehn,
Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, Missouri
Department.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
