HB 859 -- RETENTION OF BUILDING OR TECHNICAL CODES SPONSOR: Dieckhaus COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Local Government by a vote of 13 to 0. Currently, counties, fire protection districts, and municipalities that adopt building or technical codes by reference are required to file and keep three copies of the code in their clerk's office. This bill reduces the required number of copies to one. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2010, FY 2011, and FY 2012. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will save municipalities money as most of them have this information in an electronic format. Testifying for the bill were Representative Dieckhaus; and Missouri Municipal League. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
