HB 1077 -- Security Interests in Crops and Animals Sponsor: Bringer This bill revises the Uniform Commercial Code regarding production-money security interests and addresses the priority and perfection of security interests and agricultural liens. The bill also specifies that a veterinarian offering veterinary services upon request of the owner can have a lien placed upon an animal for reasonable charges and can hold and retain possession of the animal until the charges are paid. The lien will only be valid if the veterinarian recorded a verified notice of lien with the county recorder of deeds within 60 days after the services were rendered. The possessory lien will have priority over all other liens, security interests, or other encumbrances upon the animal regardless of where the service was rendered, and the nonpossessory lien will have priority over all other liens, security interests, or other encumbrances upon the animal and previously perfected security interests, regardless of where the service was rendered.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
