HB 1083 -- Disclosure of Social Security Numbers Sponsor: Sander This bill specifies that upon a finding of evidence that a state entity has knowingly disclosed a person's Social Security number the entity will be subject to a civil penalty of up to $1,000, and the court may order the entity to pay all court costs and reasonable attorney fees. If the entity is found to have purposely disclosed a person's number, it will be subject to a civil penalty of up to $5,000; and the court must order the entity to pay all court costs and reasonable attorney fees. The court must determine the amount of the penalty by taking into consideration the size of the jurisdiction, the seriousness of the offense, and whether the entity has previous disclosed a person's number.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
