HB 108 -- Public Governmental Body Meetings
Sponsor: Bivins
This bill requires any public governmental body to make and
retain for at least 18 months a verbatim audio recording of any
closed meeting. The audio recording will not be available for
public inspection, but can be examined privately by a judge in a
civil action to determine if there has been a violation of the
Open Meetings and Records Law, commonly known as the Sunshine
Law. The penalty provision is repealed for the illegal recording
of a closed meeting without the permission of the public body.
