HB 1093 -- Nuclear Energy Surcharge Sponsor: Loehner This bill requires an electrical corporation to pay a one-tenth of one cent per kilowatt hour surcharge on all nuclear energy produced in the state. The moneys received from the surcharge will be deposited into a fund to be distributed to the school districts within the 10-mile emergency planning zone as specified by the federal Emergency Management Agency for nuclear emergency preparedness and planning on a percentage basis based on the amount of each district's land which is in the zone. The bill allows the corporation to seek recovery of the surcharge through normal rate-making procedures.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
