Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1099 -- United States Senate Vacancies

Sponsor:  Denison

Currently, when there is a vacancy in the office of Senator of
the United States from the state of Missouri, the Governor is
required to appoint a person until someone is elected to the
office.  This bill requires the Governor to call a special
election to fill the vacancy.  The Secretary of State must
conduct the special election in accordance with the provisions of
Chapter 115, RSMo.
