Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1165 -- Election Judges

Sponsor: McNeil

This bill changes the procedures for appointing election judges
by requiring them to be selected at random from a cross section
of the qualified residents in the election authority's
jurisdiction. The election authority will continue to appoint
two supervisory judges, one from each political party, but will
no longer appoint additional judges. Any question which requires
a decision by the majority of judges will be made by all the
judges at the polling place instead of by only the judges from
the major political parties.
