HB 1184 -- Regional Taxing Districts

This bill establishes the Regional Taxing District Act which
authorizes the establishment of regional taxing districts
comprised of each of the counties surrounding a special business
district.  Each county, upon voter approval, will become part of
the district and will be authorized to impose a retail sales tax
of 1%.  Moneys collected from the tax will be deposited into the
newly created Regional Taxing District Sales Tax Fund with 1%
retained and deposited into the General Revenue Fund by the
Director of the Department of Revenue for the cost of collection.
The tax revenue collected will be divided equally among the
counties in the regional taxing district for local use as
determined by a county's governing body.
