Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 236 -- Students with Disabilities

Sponsor: Lipke

This bill establishes Kaitlyn's Law, which requires each school
district with a high school to develop policies and procedures by
July 1, 2010, that allow students with disabilities who have
completed four years of high school to participate in their
graduation ceremony and receive a certificate of completion under
certain circumstances. The policies and procedures must be given
to students with disabilities and their parents or guardians in
timely and meaningful notice. The State Board of Education will
monitor and enforce compliance with the requirement.
