Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 563 -- Physical Therapy Services

This bill changes the laws regarding physical therapy services.
In its main provisions, the bill:

(1)  Allows registered professional nurses who have a
collaborative practice agreement with a physician to prescribe
therapies if the delivery of the services is within their scope
of practice;

(2)  Requires all collaborative practice agreements to contain
the collaborating physician's random reviews of at least 20% of
the charts for which controlled substances are prescribed;

(3)  Includes an advanced practice registered nurse in the
description of an approved health care provider; and

(4)  Adds advanced practice registered nurses to the list of
medical providers who cannot receive a referral fee from physical
therapists or physical therapy assistants.
