Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 701 -- Human Rights

Sponsor: Talboy

This bill changes the laws regarding complaints filed with the
Missouri Commission on Human Rights and prohibits discrimination
based upon a person's sexual orientation.

The bill also clarifies that discrimination includes cases where
unfair treatment results from the guilty party's mere assumptions
regarding the victim's race, color, religion, national origin,
sex, sexual orientation, ancestry, or age as it relates to
employment or disability or familial status as it relates to
housing whether or not those assumptions are correct.

These provisions do not apply to private clubs, religious
organizations or associations, or other private establishments.
