Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 771 -- Voter Registration

Sponsor: Grill

This bill establishes one-stop voting sites which allow a person
to register and vote at the same time. The applicant must fill
out a voter registration application form and provide proof of
residency. The applicant will vote an absentee ballot or vote
the ballot provided at the polling place if registering to vote
on the day of the election. If a person chooses not to vote
immediately, the registration will be processed and the person
can vote at a one-stop voting site or at the person's correct
polling place in the same election.

Within two business days of receiving the voter registration, the
election authority in conjunction with the Secretary of State
will verify all information necessary to determine the
applicant's eligibility to vote and his or her ballot will be
counted if the applicant is eligible.
