Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 832 -- Child Support Modifications

Sponsor: Kraus

This bill allows either party in a child support case to file a
family support motion to modify the court-ordered child support
if the income of the obligated party increases or decreases by
20% or more. The motion must be accompanied by a sworn statement
or affidavit and documentation showing the change in income. The
State Courts Administrator is required to develop a simple form
for parties to file a pro se motion, and the circuit clerk's
office must conspicuously post that assistance in filing a motion
will be provided and where the filing must occur. Within 10
court days of the filing of the motion, the clerk must provide
notice to the respondent. Service of these motions is to be at
the earliest time and will take priority over all other civil
actions, except emergencies and those filed under Chapter 455,
RSMo.
