Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 981 -- Commercial Driver's Licenses

Sponsor: Meadows

This bill revises the definition of "farm vehicle" to clarify
that it is a commercial motor vehicle operated by a farmer
transporting agricultural products, machinery, supplies, or a
combination of these within 150 miles to or from the farm.

The provisions regarding commercial driver's licenses will not
apply to any person driving a farm vehicle which is controlled
and operated by a farmer, including operation by employees or
family members, and used to transport agricultural products,
machinery, or farm supplies to or from a farm if the vehicle is
used within 150 miles of the individual's farm and is not used in
the operations of a common or contract motor carrier.

The bill also prohibits the expungement of records of any person
younger than 21 years of age found guilty of or who pled guilty
to possession of intoxicating liquor or driving under the
influence of intoxicating liquor and is licensed as a commercial
motor vehicle driver or was operating a commercial motor vehicle
at the time of the violation.
