HB 989 -- Professors at State Institutions of Higher Education Sponsor: Talboy Beginning January 1, 2010, this bill requires every full-time or tenured professor at a public higher education institution to be a resident of Missouri and present proof of residency to the employing institution. Visiting professors are exempt from these provisions. The registrar of each institution must annually certify to the education appropriations committees of the General Assembly that the institution has not knowingly employed a nonresident in a position that requires state residency. Professors who do not meet the residency requirement are subject to immediate termination; and institutions that know or should have known that they have employed a nonresident are subject to a fine equal to the professor's annual salary.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
