HB 258 -- MINIMUM WAGE (Jones, 89)

COMMITTEE OF ORIGIN:  Special Committee on Workforce Development
and Workplace Safety

This bill allows the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations
to establish rules to implement the federal minimum wage
provisions.

Employers are allowed to pay an employee who receives tips less
than the hourly cash wage amount specified in the Fair Labor
Standards Act if the total compensation of the employee is not
less than the wage required prior to July 24, 2009, under the
state's Minimum Wage Law.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2010, FY 2011, and
FY 2012.
