SCS HCS HB 580 -- LINE OF DUTY COMPENSATION ACT This bill establishes the Line of Duty Compensation Act which allows a claim to be filed with the Division of Workers' Compensation within the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations by the estate of a law enforcement officer, emergency medical technician, air ambulance pilot, air ambulance registered professional nurse, or firefighter who was killed in the line of duty with certain exceptions. The claim must be filed within one year of the date of the death. The amount of compensation will be $25,000, subject to appropriations, for deaths occurring on or after August 28, 2009. The provisions of the bill will expire six years from the effective date. The bill contains an emergency clause.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
