HCS HB 1290 -- AUDITORS IN CHARTER COUNTIES
SPONSOR: Sutherland (Gatschenberger)
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Ways and Means by a vote of 11 to 0.
This substitute increases from $250 to $1,000 the minimum
threshold value of county property that must be inventoried
annually by the auditor in a charter county.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2011, FY 2012, and
FY 2013.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that it has been over 20 years since
the dollar amount of property that requires it to be inventoried
has been adjusted. The bill sets the amount at a more reasonable
threshold and still allows counties to track items of lessor
value if they choose.
Testifying for the bill were Representative Gatschenberger; and
St. Charles County Government.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
