Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 1336 -- GIRL SCOUT DAY

SPONSOR:  Brandom

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Tourism by a vote of 10 to 0.

This bill requires the Governor to issue an annual proclamation
designating March 12 as "Girl Scout Day."

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2011, FY 2012, and
FY 2013.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the Girl Scouts will celebrate
their 100th anniversary in 2012.  There are 3.4 million Girl
Scouts in America, and the organization plays a vital role in
civic education and character development for young women.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Brandom; and Leslie
Pinkston, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
