HB 1538 -- DRIVER'S LICENSE QUALIFICATIONS SPONSOR: Dusenberg COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Public Safety by a vote of 12 to 0. This bill adds any emergency medical technician licensed pursuant to Chapter 190, RSMo, to the list of individuals who can report to the Department of Revenue any person diagnosed or assessed as having a disorder or condition that may prevent him or her from safely operating a motor vehicle in order to provide the department director with good cause to believe that the operator is incompetent or unqualified to retain his or her driver's license. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2011, FY 2012, and FY 2013. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will help protect Missouri citizens by allowing licensed emergency medical technicians to report individuals who they perceive to be a danger on our roadways. Testifying for the bill were Representative Dusenberg; Scott Patton; and Jason White, Missouri Ambulance Association and Missouri EMS Association. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
