HB 1595 -- INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATIONS

SPONSOR:  Dugger

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 13 to 0.

This bill revises the definition of "project" as it relates to
industrial development corporations to include the construction,
extension, and improvement of public roads.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2011, FY 2012, and
FY 2013.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that well maintained roads can be
just as important in attracting new industry as other
infrastructure.  The bill will provide an additional source of
funds to help with the maintenance costs.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Dugger.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
