Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 1643 -- DONATIONS TO ASSIST HOMELESS FAMILIES IN JACKSON
COUNTY

SPONSOR:  Brown (50)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 14 to 0.

This bill authorizes the recorder of deeds in Jackson County to
collect a $1 donation over and above any required fees charged
for recording or providing a certified copy of a marriage license
or birth certificate.  Moneys collected will be deposited into
the housing resource commission fund to assist homeless families
and provide financial assistance to organizations addressing
homelessness in the county.  The recorder must provide a
check-off box for the donation on any required form.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2011, FY 2012, and
FY 2013.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that homeless families and the
organizations that address homelessness in Jackson County need
funds that the bill can provide.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Brown (50).

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
