HB 1677 -- COLON CANCER AWARENESS DAY

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Tourism by a vote of 10 to 0.

This bill requires the Governor to issue an annual proclamation
designating the first Friday in March as "Dress in Blue for Colon
Cancer Awareness Day."

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2011, FY 2012, and
FY 2013.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill will bring more
awareness to the early detection and treatment of colon cancer,
the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Hoskins (80).

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
