HB 1778 -- ORGAN DONOR AWARENESS DAY

SPONSOR:  Gray

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Tourism by a vote of 11 to 0.

This bill requires the Governor to issue an annual proclamation
designating September 14 as "Organ Donor Awareness Day."

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2011, FY 2012, and
FY 2013.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that many people awaiting transplants
suffer deteriorating health or die.  The bill will increase organ
donor awareness and encourage more people to become organ donors.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Gray.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
