Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HCS HB 1883 -- ACCESSIBLE PARKING SIGNS

SPONSOR:  Denison (Grisamore)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Special Committee on
Infrastructure and Transportation Funding by a vote of 10 to 0.

This substitute requires all new signs erected beginning
August 28, 2010, relating to disabled parking to contain the
words "Accessible Parking" instead of "Handicap Parking" or
"Handicapped Parking."

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2011, FY 2012, and
FY 2013.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill will show sensitivity
in parking signage for disabled individuals.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Grisamore; Janice
"Cathy" Enfield; Susan Parker; Kathleen Lowe; Scott Trickey;
Roger Crome; Judy Carmi; Missouri Planning Council for
Developmental Disabilities; and Charles Gash.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
