This bill specifies that the State of Missouri recognizes the designations of Prisoner of War (POW) and Missing in Action (MIA) as valid descriptions of casualty status and category classification for military personnel. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2011, FY 2012, and FY 2013. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the United States Department of Defense no longer considers the designations of POW and MIA as valid descriptions of casualty. Supporters believe that POWs and MIAs are casualties of war and should be classified as such.
