Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 2220 -- OATH OF ELECTION JUDGES

SPONSOR:  Dugger

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Elections
by a vote of 10 to 0.

This bill revises the oath that election judges take prior to
being commissioned or beginning duties by requiring them to swear
to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and
of Missouri.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2011, FY 2012, and
FY 2013.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill will make the election
judge oath consistent with the oath that elected officials take.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Dugger.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
