HB 1264 -- Missouri State Employees' Retirement System Sponsor: Komo Beginning September 1, 2010, this bill allows a retired member of the Missouri State Employees' Retirement System who has elected a joint and survivor option to have the member's benefit revert (pop up) to a normal annuity upon the dissolution of his or her marriage if the dissolution decree provides for sole retention by the retired person of all rights in the retirement allowance. If the member's benefit pops up, the ex-spouse will be ineligible to receive any retirement benefits based on the member's benefit. If the member remarries, he or she will have the option to elect a joint and survivor option again if the member makes the election within one year from the date of marriage or September 1, 2010, whichever is later.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
