Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1319 -- Child Custody Orders

Sponsor: Harris

Currently, an order granting custody of a minor child to a
respondent terminates upon the consent of both parties or upon
the respondent's failure to object to the order within 10 days of
receiving the petitioner's notice of the filing of the motion to
dismiss. This bill removes the order's termination by the timely
objection of the respondent and requires that the order terminate
after a hearing in which both parties have had an opportunity to
be heard.
