HB 1370 -- Cord Blood Collection

Beginning July 1, 2011, this bill requires, subject to
appropriations, the Department of Health and Senior Services to
establish cord blood collection sites in Columbia, Kansas City,
and Springfield to transport cord blood donations to the Saint
Louis Cord Blood Bank at Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical
Center.  The department will administer the sites and be
responsible for the transportation of collected cord blood.  The
state will cover the costs of transporting cord blood from the
sites only if 90% of the cord blood collected is designated for
inclusion in the National Marrow Donor Program and 10% is
designated for research use.
