HB 1376 -- Investigators of the Criminal Investigation Bureau Sponsor: Pollock This bill allows criminal investigators of the Criminal Investigation Bureau within the Department of Revenue to be appointed by the department director as peace officers and to carry firearms at all times. A minimum of 16 hours of firearms safety training will be required. Once the investigator has a valid peace officer license and takes an oath of service, he or she will receive a certificate of appointment and be granted police powers to enforce Missouri's laws while investigating matters pertaining to state income tax, estate tax, motor vehicle driver's license tax, motor vehicle registration fees, motor vehicle fuel tax, sales and use tax, and all other taxes administered by the department director and the licensure of any persons or businesses for which the department director issues licenses. Investigators will have the full power and authority of a peace officer when working with and at the special request of a county sheriff, city chief of police, or the Superintendent of the State Highway Patrol or his or her designee.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
