HB 1629 -- Governor's Dropout Advisory Commission

This bill establishes the Governor's Dropout Advisory Commission
and specifies its membership which is to consist of urban and
rural citizens who are concerned with the social costs and
quality of life that results from dropping out of school.  The
duties of the commission include advising the Governor, General
Assembly, and relevant state agencies on dropout prevention and
recovery issues and making recommendations for a comprehensive
state plan for dropout services.  The Department of Elementary
and Secondary Education must provide administrative and staff
support for the commission.
