HB 1644 -- Use of Force

This bill specifies that the use of force by a parent, guardian,
or other person entrusted with the care and supervision of a
minor or incompetent person; a teacher or other person entrusted
with the care and supervision of a minor for a special purpose; a
person responsible for operating or maintaining order in a
vehicle with other passengers; or a physician or person assisting
a physician is justifiable if the person is acting in self
defense.

A person will not be guilty of the crime of patient, resident, or
client abuse or neglect if when acting in self defense or in
defense of others he or she beats, strikes, or injures a person,
patient, resident, or client of a mental health or residential
facility.
