HB 1685 -- Murder in the First Degree Sponsor: LeVota Currently, a person commits the crime of murder in the first degree, a class A felony, when he or she knowingly causes the death of another person after deliberation upon the matter. This bill, which establishes Erica and Zayquon's Law, expands the crime to include when a person knowingly causes the death of a child younger than 18 years of age and a heinous element is involved in the commission of the crime.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
