Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1689 -- Dog Fighting

Sponsor:  LeVota

This bill prohibits any person from possessing dog fighting
paraphernalia.  A first offense will be a class D felony, and a
subsequent offense will be a class C felony.

Any person who owns, possesses, keeps, or trains any dog with the
intent that the dog will be engaged in an exhibition of dog
fighting; for amusement or gain, causes any dog to fight with
another dog or causes any dogs to injure each other; permits any
of these acts to be committed on any premises under the person's
control; or aids and abets any of these acts will be guilty of a
class C felony for any second or subsequent offense.  Any person
who is knowingly and intentionally present at any place where
preparations are being made for an exhibition of dog fighting
will be guilty of a class D felony for any second or subsequent
offense.
