HB 1701 -- Licensure of Tobacco Retailers Sponsor: Stevenson This bill requires a retailer of cigarettes or tobacco products to have a tobacco sales license issued by the Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control within the Department of Public Safety, pay an annual $50 fee by May 1, and have a retail sales tax license before selling any products. The license must be continuously and publicly displayed at the retailer's place of business. Any person or entity violating the provisions of the bill will be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to a fine of between $100 and $1,000, imprisonment for up to one year, or both. Any moneys collected under the provisions of the bill will be deposited into the newly created Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement Trust Fund to support the division's enforcement of liquor control and tobacco enforcement laws.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
